Xoomba at the French Institute
This June, Xoomba was given a lovely opportunity to show new designs for textiles for three weeks at the French Institute (formerly the French Cultural center) in Bobo Dioulasso. In the video you can see the installation of grand swooping curtains and swinging hammocks made of xoomba fabrics. The hammocks and fabrics are available now to order. The show was a success, confirming the interest that the community has in finding responsible ways to produce cotton and create sustainable livelyhoods around its production. Bobo Dioulasso is the second largest city after Burkina's capital Ouaga Dougou and is a cultural center of the country. However, its economy is quite a bit more depressed than Ouaga's and job creation is essential. We're only beginning, but the more successful Xoomba becomes, the more we can address this need in a meaningful way. One way you can support the initiative is purchase the fabrics and hammocks that are availlable now.
